You play as a tough mercenary called V, and you can start out with a Street kid, Corpo, or Nomad playstyle. Your V can be customized with a lot of appearance options. Each playstyle has a unique opening mission before merging into the main storyline. Your V can buy different Cyberware for their body that upgrades things like strength or defence or even new mechanics like run and gun or higher jumps. Mods can also be applied to each one. Your weapons can have mods as well and be upgraded. There is also crafting for weapons/mods and clothing.
The open world map is quite large and has a lot of side missions too, including random encounters. The world is full of characters and it feels very lived in, not empty at all. There are gun shops and clothing stores too, as well as homes you can purchase across the map and, of course, cars too!
There are a lot of missions to do and each NPC looks different, and the world definitely feels lived in. I love how in some missions characters will ask to drive or drive back instead of you having to do all the driving. A nice touch if you want a rest and more realistic.
You can date some characters, and after yet another update, there are now more cars and homes to buy and a better photo mode. You can now place photos from photo mode in your apartments too.
This is a very underrated game, and it is definitely one of the best games out there in this class. I found this more fun than GTA 5, and all of those bugs reported in this game early on have been squashed. I highly recommend playing the game with headphones on as the sound is even better and with music off and only ambient sounds on it feels much more realistic.
Good Points:
+Fantastic graphics and sound
+World feels very much alive
+Varied Characters
+Lots of quests and some really entertaining missions
+So many weapons, skills, mods and Cyberware
+Cars look great
+ Lots of different ways to complete missions/quests
Bad Points:
-The intro with jackie being a cutscene instead of playable missions
-Could do with way more main missions before that end game mission pops up
-Should be able to steal any car to keep permanently
-Judy and others should be dateable for male V
Grade: A+
Better than GTA 5 and amazing graphics, characters and quests. A must play!
