Remastered trilogy of a sci-fi classic

Publisher: Electronic Arts

Developer: BioWare

Also available on: PlayStation 4, PC

Containing all 3 games of the series with updated visuals. You can customize your own Commander 'Shepherd' and select starter powers and abilities. Your Shepherd can be good, bad or a mix, the choice is yours, as it is for most missions and conversations too.

Mass effect 1:

Your story as commander Shepherd starts here and you are tasked to gather intel on the Reaper threat. In this updated remaster the controls have been improved from the largely stiff controls of the original, graphics also have improved and look so good here. You have a lot of missions and side quests to do here and many planets to explore. Your Shepherd and squad-mates can use a variety of weapons and upgrade them and have different upgradable squad powers such as Throw, Pull, Tech Armour, Incinerate and more. Your choices carry onto the second and third games..

Mass effect 2:

Featuring an even bigger game than the first one, and a lot more missions and planets to visit and more squad-mates to recruit. Controls are slightly improved again and the powers are better too. The game's missions and controls are less frustrating than the first one and the final mission is a big epic battle featuring all your squad-mates that you acquire and anyone can die during it. Your choices and any surviving squad-mates carry onto the third game.

Mass Effect 3:

The conclusion to the Reaper invasion. All your choices come together during this third game, and any surviving current or former squad-mates also make appearances and act depending on your relationship with them that you've built up so far. The controls are the best here, as is the missions and well everything else really. The original had a multiplayer mode which was very fun but for some reason they haven't bothered adding it to this, which is a huge disappointment. Still to this day they have not added it in any DLC either!

Good points:

+Many different planets and species to discover in each game

+Graphics and sound has been improved a lot

+Smoother controls

+Improved powers

+Includes all the previous DLC of the series

+The new photomode is really good thanks to the higher graphics

Bad points:

-Not adding the multiplayer mode from 3 is still a really annoying and hugely negative thing!

-Should have made the controls exactly the same as the third game for all the games!

Grade: A-

3 of the best sci-fi games of all time and improved even further with this remastered trilogy, however not including multiplayer is a huge let-down and cuts into the replay-ability. Still a must have trilogy though.

Should they add the ME3 Multiplayer?

  • Of course! its criminal they haven't added it still!

  • Yes

  • No

  • Not played it before but I would try it

Favourite Species?

  • Humans
