MediEvil Remake Enhances Visuals and controls

Publisher: Sony Interactive Entertainment

Developer: Other Ocean Interactive

Also available on: N/A

A remake of the classic PlayStation 1 game, featuring Dan the skeleton who fell in battle against the army of Zarok. He is resurrected to once again do battle. You have various weapons to use such as swords or clubs, and can use shields to protect yourself against enemies such as zombies, pumpkin creatures, and giant ants (a part where you shrink and go into an ant hill). The levels are quite varied and have themes such as pumpkin patch or cemetery hill.

The game is quite tough, but you can upgrade to better weapons or higher health to help. I didn't struggle with the original game; somehow I breezed past it, but this upgraded remake seems tougher. There are boss enemies too, like the stained glass demon or giant plant.

The game has really good voice-overs and is quite humorous. The remake further improves on the visuals and has smoother gameplay. It's one of my favorite games along with the sequel. Hopefully, the MediEvil 2 remaster will also be released sometime.

Good points:

+Really good voice overs

+Improved graphics and sound

+Awesome levels with different themes

+The different bosses

+The humour

+The ant hill level

Bad points:

-Some people don't like the updated sounds

-Difficulty seems quite higher than I remember

Grade: A+

Great nostalgic game based on the excellent original, very good and improved upon further, albeit with higher difficulty.

Would you like the sequel remade too?

  • Yes!!

  • No
