Survival underwater on an alien world

Publisher: Gearbox publishing - Unknown Worlds

Developer: Unknown Worlds

Also available on: X-BOX, PC

A survival game in which you crash land on an alien world and emerge from your life-pod surrounded by nothing but the ocean. the game doesn't hold your hand, you just have to go out and swim and explore for materials to use for crafting survival items. You can also build entire habitats underwater or on land to live in and customise. More building plans can be found too by scanning parts in shipwrecks.

There is a survival mode where you have to eat and drink to survive, a casual mode for survival without the need to eat and drink, a creative mode for mostly building unlimited and a perma mode where you only have just 1 life and if you die then its game over.

You can build better equipment and tools to help with diving or building and scanning etc and you can get emergency broadcasts of locations of sunken vessels to explore too.

Some of the alien sea life are non hostile and can be either left alone or killed to be cooked for food, the others are hostile and will attack the player on sight. The deeper you swim the more aggressive and larger prey you will find. But you also have to watch out for the oxygen tanks depleting. To overcome this, you can build tools or even sea crafts like small and large submersibles.

The light on the PS4/5 controller will light up using different colours based on what your doing too, such as when you are repairing something, it glows like a welding tool, or when you use the torch it light ups like a torch too, a very nice unique feature. This is an excellent crafting/survival game with many building options and deep sea exploring.

Good points:

+Lots of land and sea to explore at your own pace

+So many crafting options for on ground and under sea base building

+Lots of tools and equipment/vehicles to use

+Controller light used as interactive feature

+Many different creatures and flora to scan and discover

Bad points:

-Slower to load on PS4 but less so on other systems

Grade: A

Fantastic survival game with many crafting options
